What is offline Time?

Offline time occurs in 2 conditions: you open the game after having had to closed for a period of time, or you spend a Time Warp. As of 1.58 Offline time counts for nearly everything in the game, allowing you to close the game in most situations and still gain progress. However there are some limitations.

How is Offline Gain Calculated?

The game keeps track of how much of something you are gaining/doing in a second, then when its time to apply offline time it retrieves this value and multiplies it by some amount of seconds to give you your reward. This is most evident on spell casts: on their tooltip you can clearly see their current cast rate, when you close the game this value is saved, and when you open the game its used to determine offline gain.

Things Offline time does not effect

  • Item Heart of the Grave.pngHeart of the Grave's effect does not occur during offline due to the complexity of tracking triggers.
  • Liquid Shadow Gain from clot collection and passive gain does not occur, Spell Day Into Night.pngDay Into Night does grant liquid shadow(it becomes your best source of it on Desolator portrait.pngDesolator eventually anyway).
  • Ascension form experience gain does not occur(need verification)
  • Your shard pool does not gain shards while offline.
  • Spell Divine Ally.pngDivine Ally and Spell Relentlessness.pngRelentlessness do not grant Hallow Clicks(both are never your main source of HCs anyway).
  • Bats are not collected by the Bat Hunter while offline.
  • Auto expedition only works up to 7 days of offline time.

Difference Between Real Offline and Time Warps

While Time Warps work exactly like offline time they also have further restrictions:

  • Mana cannot be gained with Time Warps.
  • Time Warps do not count towards crafting dust, corruption, or event resource gain timers.
  • Time Warps only grant "Game Time" and not "Real Time" for the purposes of anything that scales off of time, such as some character and pet abilities. Anything that scales off "Real Time" and not "Game Time" will specifically say "real" in its tooltip.
