Introduction
Shaman is a fairly simple class that have the greater time scaling of all classes and the best enchantment scaling pre-ascension, by a large margin, only getting beaten by dread heretic after ascension is reached. It's main profits come from idle bonus (main one) and summon efficiency (second in order of importance). The class ability is softcapped at 30 days class game time for the idle bonus part and 7e7 autoclicks, it's T3 pet ,Herald of Rot, scaling have a first softcap at 14 pet real time days and a second softcap at 200 pet game time days. It has a rough time early game when each exile is shorter but demonstrates it's true power after e550 mysts with the access to T3 pets and as one of the myst pushing powerhouses during the lategame. Pros
- Easy to learn and play
- Likes to have longer exiles
- Low AP dependency
- Best scaling with enchants pre-ascension in the whole game
Cons
- Longer run length
- Multiple bursts are not ideal
- Item requirements (ideally all required sets at legendary quality for enchantments)
- Expensive to min-max due to high value per enchant
Attribute Points
Shaman is pretty lucky compared to other classes since the bare minimum points needed are only 815
- Intelligence 150
- Insight 90 (with Legacy and Netherfist to reach all VM items requisites)
- Spellcraft 150 (175 if you don't have legendary Boots Of Harsh Trials)
- Patience 200
- Mastery 150 (200 if you don't own legendary Rugged Wristcoat)
- Empathy 0 (75 if you don't own legendary Bite Sleeves)
After that try to reach these goals
- Emp 100 (to reach 175 with Bite Sleeves equipped, so you can use both Falconer's Warm Cape and Hollow Eye Pendant)
- Ins 130 (with leg Netherfist, swap out Legacy)
- dom 135 (150 if you don't own legendary Rugged Wristcoat)
- emp 200 (dom down to 100)
- dom 185 (200 if you don't own legendary Rugged Wristcoat)
E550 myst variation
We assume the following initial AP distribution:
- 150 Intelligence
- 130 Insight (which becomes 150 with legendary Netherfist equipped)
- 150 Spellcraft (to equip gear)
- 0 Wisdom
- 0 Dominance
- 200 Patience
- 50 Mastery (which becomes 100 with legendary Rugged Wristcoat)
- 175 Empathy
Note: You can use Legacy with insight 90 and spellcraft 100 until you reach ench 16 on the vm items.
Now distribute points according to the following priority list (you need to achieve the requested value at a point in order to go to the following):
- 200 Empathy
- 250 Patience
- 35 Dominance (which becomes 50 with legendary Rugged Wristcoat)
- 250 Empathy
- 150 Insight (not including bonuses from Netherfist or Legacy)
- 150 Mastery (which becomes 200 with legendary Rugged Wristcoat)
- Optional: Excess Patience (if possible)
- 200 Intelligence
- 200 Mastery (which becomes 250 with legendary Rugged Wristcoat)
- 250 Intelligence
- 180 Insight (which becomes 200 with legendary Netherfist equipped)
- 235 Dominance (which becomes 250 with legendary Rugged Wristcoat)
- 250 Spellcraft (to equip Spellweaving Kilt)
- 230 Insight (which becomes 250 with legendary Netherfist equipped)
- Optional: Excess Mastery > Empathy > Dominance > Insight (if possible)
- 250 Wisdom exactly
- 250 mastery
dumps: pat > mas > emp > dom > int > ins > ver
Basics
Total run length
After patch 1.31 this become more relevant than before since Heart of the Grave ability no longer apply to character game time, so shaman's idle ability now have a way better time scaling and softcap at 30 days played. Take this in consideration when planning your exiles.
Timescaling before any softcaps is around t^12 and after hitting sofcaps goes down to a minimum of around t^8. (14 days real time -3, 30 days rt -.2, 200 days game time -.5, 7e7 autoclicks ~-.2)
Spell Stacking buildup
|
This phase should last however long your exile is planned on being, minus about 3 days. Then, those final 3 days should be in the following pet time stacking phase. For exiles under 3 days, you spend all your time there.
note: The order of spells matters here.
note: Early in the realm it might be a good idea to use Conjure Greater Elemental in order to help charge spells (like Nightfall). Swap out Conjure Primal Elemental.
Pet time stacking
|
This set is to level up your burst pet (either Risen Giant or Herald of Rot) and boost his game time as fast as possible. For the former reaching a couple of hours of game time is enough and it can change from either a couple of minutes to a few tens depending on Temporal Scabbard enchantment and Nightfall stacks, for the latter you want to reach 14d to 30d of game time once you hit a wall and that can span to over 3 days.
At around 60 casts per sec of plague zombies you reach the game time soft cap of 200 days after 80 hours of this phase.
Branch Charging
The goal here is to stack up charges (through autoclicks) on Branch of the Great Cycle. Because Summon Centipede Swarm scales the number of autoclicks on Summon efficiency, we maximize that (and, when we can't, we do CAP because CAP^.155 = Summon eff).
|
Void Mana
We are using Void Radiance to gather VM since pet swap isn't allowed by the main burst pets time scaling abilities, so all the items we use gives more VM per entity or incantation efficiency.
|
Burst
|
Swap to your sets and use branch active ability, if you want to use get myst do that after branch active have finished and charge it again for a new burst since it's not a huge time sink like before. bursting a single time without GM is enough as when i tested multiple bursts the additional myst gain wasn't enough (~e1 more myst at max) to justify charging branch again.
Enchanting priority
- Servants Overclocking
- Branch of the Great Cycle
- Warbanner Fragment
- Remaining 10-15% idle bonus burst items(Under this should be 1 lower than SO)
- 20% CAP burst items
- Remaining summon eff burst items(Under this should be 3 lower than SO)
- Morbid Loop
- Falconer's Warm Cape (burst)
- Blessed Tapestry / Inert Jade Phylactery
- Voidstrike Seal
- Black Vortex
- Void Sampling/Pitch-black Cage/Insidious Lure/Anomalous Essence (Row under this should be 4 lower than SO)
- Remaining VMPE VM set items (Under this should be 7 lower than SO)
- Temporal Stabilizer/Sash of Luxury
- Remaining VM set inc eff items
- defiance burst pet levelling items (Row under this should be 10 lower than SO)
- Acclimatized Summons/Intact Carapace/Symbol Of Authority/The Magnifier(not on burst)/Beholding Eye(not on burst)/Conjured Thornmail/Conjured Razorspaulders
- Warp Basilisk/Nulldragon, The Anomaly
- Evo eff Items.
Temporal Scabbard is a jolly, enchant it as much as you want, but try to keep it at least 1-2 enchants from SO until 20 enchantments, after that you can decide for yourself.
Item Stats Priority
there are a few things that impact on your total profit and this is what to prioritise before you have fully upgraded all the items suggested by the guide so you can make an educated decision on what to swap, remember that set bonuses usually take priority over other non-upgraded items.
idle bonus > character ability power = summoning efficiency > pet ability power > click/ autoclick profit > profit
idle bonus is the strongest stat you can ever get with shaman as everything you do scale it (patience, cap, pap, summon eff).
summoning efficiency is the second strongest stat for burst as you have 5 summons in the bar, giving it a x5 relevance, BUT cap scale both idle bonus and summon eff so it's above it in the scale of things.
while Herald of Rot pap scaling it's kinda low it have 3 relevant profit abilities and one of them is summon eff, swap pap and click profit with Risen Giant as it's not worth it apart from a few cases (like Bite Sleeves).
finally you have click/autoclick profit and profit, the first getting prioritised as usually the items with it have other more useful stats for the class, ideally you only want to see Resonator Ring with these stats, but Embrace Of The Grove is better than Falconer's Warm Cape with Risen Giant before ench where The Magnifier take priority.
Pantheon
When you only have the first ability available, the list of best to worst god is (Chaos is still unavailable at this stage):
Tempoaeverum >> Procreogenus > Animatealia > Veritallios >> Altermutus > Ardourium
When you have both abilities and Chaos unlocked, the list is:
Tempoaeverum >> Procreogenus >= Animatealia > Chaos => Veritallios >> Ardourium >= Altermutus
where the >= symbol means the god on the left is so minimally better than the one on the right that you can consider them to be on equal footing, the symbol > means that the god on the left is definitely better than the one on the right, and >> means the god on the left is considerably better than the one on the right.
Note: Ardourium is mainly useful for Synthetic Entity, which in turn is only relevant for the Insight 150 perk and as a source of character experience.
Note: profit wise (when applied directly to the computation of profits), both Altermutus and Ardourium provide no profit (Ardourium first ability) or very little profit (Ardourium second ability or Altermutus with either one or both).
Note: Once you unlock Cerebrus it get priority over all the other gods due to his 2nd ability (+% god exp)
Source Memetics
Here is the assignment of source memetics that works best for Shaman:
- Gild (top left, mana icon): Grimoires/Forbidden Tomes
- Incantation Efficiency: Mana Gems
- Character Ability Power: Circles of Power
- Autoclick Profit: Alchemy Desks/Witching Cauldrons
- Summoning Efficiency: Nexi
- Pet Ability Power: Dimensional Rifts
- Character Experience: Spell Fountains
Evocation efficiency should be left unassigned, as we absolutely do not want to reduce our number of Trees of Life, as that would decrease our autoclicks on Summon Evergrowing Forest.
Character experience is also a bit weird, but it's definitely worth it for Shaman, as it benefits phylacteries (of which Shaman gets a lot out of), as well as Shaman itself having good level scaling.
Spell Memetics
For use with Merp's spell meme sheet. Make sure to put in the summon table to the sheet as well.
Spell | Efficiency | Cast scaling | Autoclick amt scaling | Special Scaling |
---|---|---|---|---|
Summon Unholy Avatar | 1.733 | 0 | 0 | Autoclick |
Summon Spider Swarm | 1.444 | 0 | 0 | Autoclick |
Summon Evergrowing Forest | 1.266 | 0 | 6.7 | Autoclick |
Summon Deepwood Stalker | 1.266 | 0 | 6.7 | Autoclick |
Summon Centipede Swarm | 1.279 | 0 | 0 | Autoclick |
Void Radiance | 1.245 | 0 | 0 | |
Dreaded Script Of Harvest | 1.183 | 0 | 0 | |
Void Lure | 1.011 | 0 | 0 | |
Conjure Primal Elemental | 1.001 | 0 | 6.7 |
Clear out the summon table from anything that was there before, put in the "Class Pet XP Scaling" as 0.1, and put this in the summon table:
Spell | Base clicks | % of buildup | % w/ Eerie | Used w/ Paukan? | Used in shaman burst? |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Conjure Primal Elemental | 15 | 100% | 90%** | Y | |
Summon Evergrowing Forest | 80* | 90%** | 100% | Y | Y |
Summon Deepwood Stalker | 0.5 | 10%** | 0% | Y | |
Summon Spider Swarm | 6 | 0% | 0% | Y | |
Summon Centipede Swarm | 76* | 0% | 0% | Y | Y |
Summon Unholy Avatar | 16 | 0% | 0% | Y |
*Click amounts for SEF and SCS depend on your current stats/mysts. These numbers shouldn't be that far off from your numbers, but if you want to refine it a little, check the autoclick numbers you get in burst (and make sure to divide the number you see by 1.1 to remove the multiplier from challenges). This has had some inconsistencies for me, though, so if you want to make sure it's consistent with the other numbers, use their formulas for click amounts. Copy and paste these formulas into the cell for click numbers, and replace the capitalized words with the relevant number. SEF: =FORESTS*.004 , SCS: =log(SUMMON EFF)*2.5+1 .
**The % of exile you spend on scrying vs. pet time stacking varies wildly because of the HoR pet time softcaps. I tried to go for a middle ground here, and it probably doesn't make a huuuge difference either way, but you can put in your own ratio here for whatever it ends up being for you.
Advanced
Resource Spending
here some tips on how to spend your resources to upgrade and improve your gear
- get Branch of the Great Cycle, Heart of the Grave to leg and Resonator Ring to epic, the 2 weapons are the biggest priority.
- farm shattered reality, eye of chaos and cathedral in expedition to get and upgrade Charged Fin-Wing, Insidious Lure and Warbanner Fragment to leg. spend unstable keys on lower level zones first as they're cheaper.
- useful legendary items: Perfected Kata Bracers, Frosty Ring and Artificer's Shoulderpads, they're a real boon to longer runs.
- get a few enchants on Temporal Scabbard to help you out with the stacking.
- burst items have the upgrade priority, followed by vm gen and branch stacking after you have your leg weapons.
Rushing on Shaman
yes, now it's possible to rush with shaman and it's real easy to learn how: get some branch charges -> get VM with Voidterror -> swap to zombie -> profit! but you need a couple of set variations for that.
1) alternate pet levelling set
2) alternate VM set
you can easily get e4 branch charges in less than a minute and e5 and about a couple of minutes, do not switch to Risen Giant until you can boost it's game time to 2h with Heart of the Grave in less than 5 minutes, in that case use the normal pet levelling set.
Contended Slot: Rugged Wristcoat vs Nomadic Wrists
After some testings we found out that even with all attributes at 250 rugged is only slightly inferior to nomadic (we are talking about a difference of less than e1 myst), we choose to use wristcoat in the end due to the high number of attribute points it give and due to the fact that mas 200 is way superior than mas 250, saving a total of 65 points even in late game you can spend on other on attributes to get better perks or item requirements (like spc 150).
Feel free to change to nomadic if you ever reach that point.
note: if you have the memory Obscure Talents Rugged Wristcoat automatically pull ahead since it give more stats even after capping them
Botanist boosting
Botanist is the Druid/Necromancer triumph and it grant summoning efficency based on total autoclicks this realm (not exile), so Temporalist is obviously the best choice for that, run it once and wait to have at least 1e12 total autoclicks.
pet: Pixie class: Temporalist

Items
Ascension (T3) classes
After you reach e1100 Mysteries shaman have access to 2 ascension classes he can pick from: Demiurge and Defiance.
The first one give access to an additional mana source with a very powerful unique memetic and catalysts based on the highest number of catalysts you have on a source, reduced mana cost for sources based on ascension level and access to 3 more spells: Primal Power, Conjure Void Elemental and Forge Empyreal Vassal. While the first is mostly useless due to the nature of shaman, Conjure Void Elemental is incredibly powerful thanks to the incredible amount of summon efficiency shaman can get and the fact that it can be pre-buffed by Voidterror before switching to herald of Rot instead of relying on just Void Lure + Void Radiance, finally Forge Empyreal Vassal is a permanent incantation (the bonuses last until exile and the spell itself does not need to be on the spellbar for them to be applied) that increase your pet ability power, mostly for Voidterror and herald of Rot.
The second one have 2 "stances" instead, the first part increases your void mana per entity by a huge amount, the second part increases your click profit and your summoning efficiency instead (if you want to use it with other classes don't worry, this bonus changes based on the T2 you're playing as), it also give you access to 3 more spells: Unclean Knowledge, Nullzone and Employ Celestial Countermeasures. While Nullzone suffer from the same fate as Primal Power, Unclean Knowledge partially change the way herald of Rot is levelled at while also slightly increasing shaman's time and enchant scaling, finally Employ Celestial Countermeasures is another permanent incantation, this time increasing evocation and summoning efficiency, while the first part is only nice for Synthetic Entity the second part is shaman's bread and butter.
For each class's section i will only state what are the main changes compared to normal shaman as they're mostly the same apart from a few things and the assumption that you got over 1e9 edust.
IMPORTANT: THE MOUNT SLOT FOR THE BUILDUP ON BOTH CLASSESS IS Warp Basilisk AS IT INCREASE THE AUGMENTS' CASTS.

Full incantations
Make sure to see the #Increasing Augments Casts section below.
Pet: Ley Keeper/Voidterror/Herald of Rot
Full summons
Pet: Voidterror/Herald of Rot
NOTE: the use of Ley Keeper is mostly for exiles whos length exceed 14 days in order to get as much autoclicks as possible as at this point the 7e7 clicks softcap is too easy to reach so we can overshoot it by a large margin for a considerable profit increase. Keep the Ley Keeper for up to ~ a fifth of the total exile length. The main point of the pet is to be paired together with Eerie Turquoise Phylactery or Hectic Lime because the high reduced level requirement it gives us increase the effect of the items.
Voidterror levelling Set
Voidterror VM Set
Void mana Set
As a spellset use what you want and add Void Lure and Gem Resonance for ins200 and ins250 on both sets and Conjure Primal Elemental for the vt levelling set.
Spell meme changes
Spell memes are mostly the same, here are the changes:
- FEV gets added, with efficiency 1 and cast scaling 2.08, and use cast amt.
- CVE replaces SCS, having an efficiency of 1.186 and still using autoclick profit. Make sure to replace it in the summons table as well - change SCS to CVE, which has 9 base clicks.
- VL's efficiency value changes to 1.015.
- If you don't use VT maximization, VR's efficiency changes to 1.36. Otherwis, it stays the same.
Defiance
Full Incantations Buildup
Pet: use Ley Keeper to get extra clicks with the Eerie Turquoise Phylactery for more ascension xp until you switch to Herald of Rot, on shorter runs it may be only a few hours and on longer runs that may be extended to days. On <3d exiles, this should be roughly 29% of the exile.
Make sure to see the #Increasing Augments Casts section below.
Once you have stacked Unclean Knowledge enough make sure to switch to Rules of Nature in order to increase it's passive.
Full Summons Buildup
Pet: Ley Keeper This should be roughly 4% of a <3d exile.
Pet levelling
With Unclean Knowledge any incantation efficiency enchantment beat a 100% pet exp bonus early on so they get changed. At ench 34+5 swap Heart of the Storm for Anointed Ashes. It's separated from the time boosting set as you get way more exp this way than using something similar to the normal setup.
Use this for time boosting the pet.
This is the new time boosting set, since the levelling part is done separately you can just use charge boosting + cap + summon eff + utility items. You can replace Perfected Kata Bracers with Nomadic Wrists if you don't lose cast rate on PZ, for slightly more autoclicks. On <3d exiles, this should be ~67% of the exile.
Spell meme changes
They mostly stay the same as base Shaman, just adding the new spells you use:
- ECC gets added, with efficiency 1 and cast scaling 3.44, uses cast amt.
- UK gets added, with efficiency 1.018 and cast scaling 0.04, uses cast amt.
- All autoclick amt scalings on spells should be updated to 8.69.
- There are quite a few changes to the summons box, so here is the full thing:
Spell | Base clicks | % of buildup | % w/ Eerie | % of Eerie w/ LK | Used w/ Paukan? | Used in shaman burst? |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Conjure Primal Elemental | 15 | 4% | 0% | 0% | Y | |
Summon Evergrowing Forest | 100* | 96%** | 100% | 30% | Y | Y |
Summon Deepwood Stalker | 0.5 | 4%** | 0% | 0% | Y | |
Summon Spider Swarm | 6 | 0% | 0% | Y | ||
Summon Centipede Swarm | 80* | 67% | 100% | 0% | Y | Y |
Summon Unholy Avatar | 16 | 0% | 0% | Y | ||
NEW: Conjure Greater Elemental | 10 | 67% | 100% | 0% |
*Make sure to also update click amounts for SEF and SCS, as they change with your stats, which are likely much higher than base Shaman.
- We now use SCS in pet time, so add the 8.69 for its autoclick amt scaling.
- Add in CGE - efficiency 1, AC amt scaling 8.69
Post Ascension Optimization
After reaching ascension classes there are a couple of optimization that can be done to increase the power of your runs, the first is stacking Nightfall on defiance oni because you can get way more casts, the second is to get more max clicks on dread tempo (you can get way more than before, only if you have the Botanist triumph).
Defoni
Nightfall Stacking
Pet: Ley Keeper Stance: Defense
Drempo
Start with the summon stack set to get some Conjure Primal Elemental casts, then swap to the pet levelling set with Mechanos Apexis as the main pet, finally switch to the AC maxing sets and watch your max autoclicks go through the roof.

Increasing Augments Casts
There is a really good way to increase the casts of your chosen class augment by ~50% but it's not too wise to do early on in an exile since you would have to swap out Synthetic Entity, losing the main source of void entities of the class, and since this apply for both classes it would only create an artificially bloated section and/or item sets it's been decided to put it here.
The "trick" consist on using Voracious Plague + Plague Zombie, plague zombie being instant cast instead of 1s duration is what matter the most, what spells you need to change depend on the phase and the ascension.
- Demiurge: Rules of Nature + Synthetic Entity
- Defiance: either Nightfall or Unclean Knowledge + Synthetic Entity, the second one give you way more casts but you get less pet exp overrall, you can always change your spells during the phase.
note: you need good enchants on Temporal Scabbard for this to work out as you won't have Nightfall to super-charge Plague Zombie for most cases.
Proficiency
These are changes to the burst set that can be done at a particular proficiency level on that slot, works at all enchant levels unless stated.
Proficiency 1
The Magnifier -> Falconer's Warm Cape (at ench 23+5, increase proficiency by 1 every 3-4 additional ench levels)
Proficiency 7
The Magnifier -> Falconer's Warm Cape (at ench 42+5)
Chemical Toolbelt -> Encircling Trophies
Proficiency 10
Rugged Wristcoat -> Bite Sleeves
Proficiency 13
Tribal Dressing -> Conjured Painguards
Proficiency 25
Miniaturized Accelerator -> Hollow Eye Pendant
Proficiency 27
Grasp Of The Grave -> Conjured Claws
Lordic Greaves -> The Great Journey (enchants 45+5 minimum)
