Introduction
This is a guide for the Tempest form of Desolator. Teso is significantly different from base Deso and Dreso, instead bursting with the Summon elixir and Arcanaworg to make the most out of all the shard gain effects it gets. It also has a very simple buildup with no ratioing of spells in the spell stacking phase, unlike the other two versions of Deso, because it's no longer worth it to use spells we used to stack like Ritual Of Power. Without further ado, here we go:
The Run
Apprentice VE gathering
This is the same as base Deso - only do it for 10-20 minutes, maybe 30 minutes on a really long exile.
|
Switch to Teso now!
Possessed Blade charging
Here, we want to use Nix-Instability to charge Possessed Blade, so we don't have to do it later. How much you charge it depends on how long the exile is going to be, but you're going to be using it for all of LS (1/3rd of the buildup overall) and burst, so I usually find that 1e4 charges is enough on exiles shorter than a few days.
Also worth noting: if you increase (or decrease? I'm unsure) the level of PB, it'll entirely reset the number of charges stored. Make sure to assign your spell memetics BEFORE charging it!
|
You can replace Burn All That Burns in this spellset with another evocation, especially if you have Renown V, if you don't want to risk accidentally switching after an LS phase and ruining it.
Pet Leveling
We have 2 (or 3) different Pet Leveling sets here, because we have a few different pets we need to level with slightly different needs - LK for buildup, Devourer for max pet level, and Arcanaworg for burst. Devourer's set is basically the same as LK's except it wants Concealing Shroud - you can decide whether or not you care about having another item set devoted to that. It makes only a few levels' difference.
|
|
Whenever a pet is mentioned in the future, just use these sets for it. Default to the LK set for any pet that isn't one of these 3, if for some reason you want to level another pet.
Spell Stacking Buildup
This should be 2/3rds of your exile, roughly.
Note: I have Renown V and non-renown V sets here, but all of the notes about approximating Renown V from the base Deso guide also apply here (although you should ABSOLUTELY NOT use Chimaera as one of the methods. Hectic Lime means way too much here). My personal favorite is to just close the game, because it'll stack at full effectiveness.
|
I usually do Pet Level Maximization (just leveling Devourer for a few minutes) after this phase, because theoretically scrying CE increases your pet exp marginally, but since LS phase also uses LK, I don't blame you if you don't want to. Pet level maximization also has less effect on Teso - since we use Summon burst and not Pet elixir, we only get effect from highest pet level from Possessed Blade, which is only ^.8 instead of ^1.5 overall.
LS generation
This should be the remaining 1/3rd of your exile. Remember to buy back any sources spent if you don't have Renown V - they will drain over time, albeit slowly.
You then want to spend ~40-50% of your LS (i'm too lazy to double check the number rn, it's higher than base deso though) with Burn All That Burns. Do this only after you've collected ALL LS you will be collecting this exile, because Shadow elixir scales on current LS ^.05.
Burst
Make sure to switch to and level Arcanaworg, and go! Like other forms of Deso, you can infinite burst if you want (it's t^1, so theoretically it should be like 10% of the exile? but honestly idc that much). Just make sure to set an autoclicker to keep you out of idle mode and keep Black Blade active.
Scalings
Incant^3.77, Summon^3.6, Shards^2.44, CAP^1.4, PAP/Offline/Profit/Evo/Autoclick/Click^1, VPE/VProfit^.71

Quick note about Elixirs
Switching elixirs can be a bit of a pain if you don't do anything to help out. My preferred method of doing elixirs is to use a preset of spells that are ordered such that I can hit 12345 and it'll put the right ingredients into the cauldron. This saves on having to learn each "code", but it does take up spell set slots for each elixir you use. The other method is to use the hotkeys for ingredient inputs - you don't have to cast spells, but instead you can click (or use a hotkey for) the pips to the right of the elixir icon. 8 for evocation, 9 for incantation, 0 for summoning. Either works, but it's much easier than manually turning off autocast for spells and trying to add spells to the bar manually each time you want to change elixirs (which is quite frequently).
Source Memetics
Gild (mana icon) - Gems
Incantation - Grimoire
CAP - Circle of Power
Autoclick - Alchemy Desk
Evocation - Spell Fountain
Summoning - Nexus
PAP - Dimensional Rifts
Character EXP - none (Scorched Earth is left empty)
Spell Memetics
For use with Merp's Spell Memetic sheet.
Spell | Efficiency | Casts scaling | Autoclick amt scaling | Other |
---|---|---|---|---|
Condensed Energy | 1.53 | 1.053 | 0 | Cast amt |
Seethe In Shadows | 1.5 | 1 | 0 | Cast rate |
Automatise | 1.46 | 0 | 0.181 | Autoclick |
Materialize Cosmic Conduit | 1.37 | 0 | 0 | |
Artificial Muse | 1.32 | 0 | 0.181 | Autoclick |
Possessed Blade | 1.27 | 0 | 0 | |
Fire with Fire | 1.2 | 0 | 0 | |
Onyx Hound | 1.10 | 0 | 0.15 | |
Void Fission | 1.013 | 2.15 | 0 | Cast amt |
Day Into Night | 1.011 | 3.77 | 0 | Cast rate |
Conjure Primal Elemental | 1.0004 | 0 | 0.181 | |
Conjure Manabeast | 1 | 0 | 0.181 |
Summons table (for the top right, needs to be put in for the autoclick amt scaling to do anything, although that is fairly minor overall for Deso forms):
Spell | Base clicks | % of buildup |
---|---|---|
Conjure Manabeast | 16 | 33% |
Conjure Primal Elemental | 15 | 33% |
Automatise | 10 | 33% |
Artificial Muse | 10 | 33% |
Onyx Hound | 4 | 100% |
Obviously, none of them are used in shaman burst.
