These Challenges are waiting games as the pet levels up.
The more spells with shards available the faster the Experience will come for the Devourer to level up - it eats proportionally to the number of spells with shards available and the passive shard production stat. This means that, early-on the priority is keeping spells charged, so a build focused on clicks, which are buffed with x5 shard production. Note that the spell's shard cost has no effect, as long as it can hold half a second of passive production.

Set the summons to reckless autocast to counter the devourer's shard consumption.
Alternatively, for a quicker and more active run at higher mysteries, replace Void Automaton with Template:Spelltooltip.
- 75 Empathy (at least 25 but the perks are invaluable here)
- Wisdom (as much as possible)
- ~100 Intelligence
- ~25 Insight
- ~100 Spellcraft
- ~Patience
This challenge takes time. It'll take less if you put 25 points into mastery to improve the experience gains. The rest depends on playstyle - it's entirely possible to do this away-from-keyboard, but it's much faster to level up and earn the mana to buy the pet experience upgrades.
A more active approach with bursting will benefit from high Spellcraft and Wisdom. A passive approach will benefit more from the passive buffs of Intelligence and Insight. Patience is a good attribute in either case because it buffs passive production, and can generate clicks from 75 onwards to keep spells going, but also improves the efficiency of Dreaded Script Of Harvest.
